In 2008 Galaxy Resources Ltd requested orelogy to run the series of pit optimisations for their Mt Cattlin mine. The main purpose of this exercise was to provide direction with regard to resource improvement, geotechnical drilling for slope stability analysis and to outline the deepest areas of pit development for hydrogeological investigations.
The Mt Cattlin mine is a spodumene-tantalite mine 2.2 kilometres north of Ravensthorpe, Western Australia. Mt Cattlin has a reserve of 9.9 million tonnes of ore grading 1.04% Li₂O and 149 ppm Ta₂O₅.
